The Basics
- Games from the past 3 days & Games/Events for the next 7 days will appear on the top half of the home screen allowing the user to swipe between events
- Users can determine which sports they want displayed by selecting sports under "Settings" -> "My Teams"
Know the Logic
- Only show games that are less than 3 days in the past or games/events that are less than 7 days into the future
- Only show events/games that are selected in the "My Teams" section in the app
- For example, if a fan only selects Men's Basketball for "My Teams", only Men's Basketball games & events will populate the top half of the home screen
- Show events chronologically - this renders the "Premier Sport" & "High Priority" features extinct
- The user will now select which events are important to them by using "My Teams"
- If there is in app audio or video, they will display as round icons on the right hand side of the screen
- If there is not in-app audio or video, you can add labels on the left hand side of the screen to indicate where those can be accessed
Communicate to Your Fans
When introducing a feature of this magnitude to your fans, it is important to help them through the transition process. This will significantly change the way that fans use the app, and we think will this will ultimately be a big positive for overall usage of the app. But without proper communication to fans, there will surely be a certain level of confusion and resistance to the change. That makes it very important to communicate the change clearly and help fans learn how to use the new interface. Use the following tips to make sure the transition is smooth as the new feature is released to fans:
1. Rather than talking in terms of the feature itself (like we've done above in our documentation for you), you should talk in terms of the fan and how their experience will be improved or changed. Consider using language like:
- Personalize your home page!
- Access the sports you want to follow - just a swipe & tap away!
- Swipe to view recent results and what's happening later this week!
- Panda fans now have more information right at their fingertips! Check out the new "Multi-Event" home screen where you can personalize content to the sports & teams YOU want to follow!
2. Use this as an opportunity to re-engage fans that may have stopped using the app
- Post some graphics to twitter informing fans of the new interface (use language similar to the above)
- Include a download link
- Send a push notification to all fans to let them know about the update and how it will improve the experience
3. Prepare for questions
- You and your staff will likely get questions from fans about the changes and how to take advantage of the new functionality
- Make sure your staff is familiar with the documentation above - reach out to your Customer Success Coach if you have questions
