Below you'll find a description of each metric and how we use each metric to measure success.

Page 1

Page 1 of your report will gather weekly information on app growth, as well as active devices, sessions, and time spent in the app.

  • All Time Users: this is the total number of people who have ever used the app

  • Users Registered for Push Notifications: a snapshot of how many users have notifications turned on
  • New Devices: A new device is a user who has just started using your application. A new device is only recognized when the user first launches the application. If a user has downloaded but not ever launched your app, they will not be counted. If a user deletes and re-installs your app to the same device or upgrades to a new version, they will not be recounted. If a user obtains a new device and downloads your application to that device, they will be counted again as a new device.

    • This number may not always directly match the Total User number.

    • We recommend viewing this number as a growth metric to measure progress in growing your app audience. (i.e. we did a better job promoting week one vs another week).

  • Active Devices: number of users who used the app at least once in a given time period

  • Sessions: a session is one use of the app on a given device. It typically begins with the user launching the app and ends when the app is terminated

    • Note that the definition of session does not depend on how many screens are used in the app or how long the app is used

  • Time Spent Per User:  the average number of minutes that a user spent in the app during a given time period

    • = [Total Time Spent In App By All Devices] / [Active Devices]

Page 2 of your report will tell you app metrics such as Team Follower data and Fan Affiliation data. Page 2 will also include metrics on in-app audio streaming, rewards numbers, and other popular app feature usage.

  • Fan Affiliations: the number of people that are signed up for push notifications and have checked off a specific affiliation to your organization
  • Team Followers: the number of people that are signed up for push notifications and are following a specific team in the app
    • NOTE: these numbers are intended to inform you on your audiences as it pertains to sending push notifications. If you segment a notification to a specific affiliation, or a specific team, these are the numbers that indicate how many people will receive that notification.
    • These numbers are NOT automated, so check in with your CSC to make sure your report is showing the most up-to-date information

  • Audio: if your app has taken advantage of in-app audio streaming, this will be the next section on page 2. If your audio broadcasts link out to an external web player, this will not be in your report.
    • Total Audio Sessions: this number indicates how many times the audio icon was clicked on all-time
    • Unique Audio Listeners: this number indicates the number of unique devices that have listened to an audio broadcast

  • Rewards: this number inform on three things: the amount of rewards users on the platform, the amount of total times someone has checked into an event, and the average number of check-ins per user
  • Feature Usage: this chart shows the all-time feature usage for your app. Useful for seeing trends on what fans are holistically clicking on the most, so you can plan your content around the most popular features

Page 3 of your report will show you how your app compares to our other partners' apps of similar size.

These numbers can be a good indicator of your apps progress over time, and can help you set goals internally for growth. These numbers aren't immediately indicative of a successful vs. an unsuccessful app, as there are many factors that are in play when comparing multiple schools, such as location, demographics, and fan base.
