Purpose: Over the years, we at FNO have made the FanX platform as customizable as we can, and we continue to try and do so. This article will outline what specific things that require an app update for, as opposed to being able to change them directly in the portal.


App Updates


The beauty of the FanX Portal is that it allows you to update most of the content in the app without having to wait 3-4 weeks for an App Update to go out.  Changes made on the portal are almost immediate and allow you to get timely information delivered to fans.  That said, there are a few items that are not directly editable in the portal.  Changing any of the items below will require increased wait times, since fans will have to wait until the next app update to see the changes:


  • App Store Name:  The name that appears when users search for the app in the store


  • App Icon Name:  The name that appears under the icon on the users phone screen


  • App Icon:  The icon that is displayed on the users phone


  • App Theme: Things like the background color on the home screen, colors on the schedule screen, navigation bar, settings drawer, etc. cannot be edited in the portal.  This also includes whether your app is dark or light theme, as that will require an app update as well.
    • On the other hand, anything that is a graphic (like the home screen cards, team cards/banners, etc. can be edited straight from the CMS


  • Map Overlay:  If you have a new stadium layout or want to add a new venue to the map, this would require an app update.  
    • Adding things like restrooms, concessions stands, parking, etc. do not require an update and can be added via the portal
