Purpose: With each new season comes new schedules and rosters. If you are not a FanX Plus customer, you will need to manually import these schedules and rosters to the portal so they appear in the app. This article will walk through the process of doing that.

When would you need to do this?

At the start of the season, rather than create each game individually on the CMS, we typically use Excel sheets to import the entire season's schedule.  This is something your team can do on the CMS or you can reach out to your Customer Success coach for help from our team.

NOTE: YOU WILL NOT NEED TO DO THIS IF YOU ARE A FANX PLUS CUSTOMER - IN THAT CASE, ROSTER AND SCHEDULE INFORMATION WILL BE PULLED AUTOMATICALLY FROM YOUR WEBSITE

What you'll need to begin

If you have an excel sheet with any of the schedule information, that is a great place to start. Having audio, video, and ticket links is optional, but can add great value to the content of the app.

If you don't have an excel sheet, you can usually copy paste data from your website or a PDF schedule into our schedule template.  In this case, you'll likely need to do some formatting to get the excel sheet ready for import.

How to Import a Schedule

Step 1:

Go into your FanX portal and navigate to the import data page (using the top navigation bar). On this page, you’ll see options of templates to download. Select “Excel: Game Schedule” from the list of templates and the excel document will begin to download.

Step 2:

Open the downloaded excel document. Each of the columns on the document corresponds with a piece of information that will show up on the app. Note that Bolded Fields are required while everything else is optional. Also note that you need to import your schedules one at a time. You can’t, for example, import your Football schedule and Volleyball schedule using the same file. You’ll need two separate excel files for those teams.

Step 3:

Once your excel file is filled out with all of the games and information you want to import, save it to your desktop or somewhere that the file is easily accessible. Once you have saved the file, return to the portal and navigate to the import data screen once again. On the left side of the screen, select “Excel” for Data Source and “Game Schedule” for Data Type. Then select the team that you are importing for. Click the “Choose File” button and browse to find the excel document, or simply drag the file onto the button.

Step 4:

Click submit and your records will be imported on the backend. Look for the green success message to confirm that the records have been added.

Step 5:

Your records have been added to the system, but they are not live in the app just yet. To publish those games to the app, navigate to Sports->Games and then click on Staged to open that list of records. Find the records you just imported by filtering by Sport or sorting by Date Updated and check the box next to those records.

As a best practice, FNO recommends that you attach opponent logos to each game record before publishing the schedules.

Once you have the records checked, you can publish the games to the app by using the “Group Actions” dropdown and selecting “Publish”.
